map day 7
Thursday, Sept. 18 - 357 Miles

We decided to start the day out in a lazy mode, since we are close to home. We got up a little later then in the days past. The Hotel has some pretty good breakfast, so we both decided on waffles.

Before we hauled our bags out to the bikes, Rosie took a picture of our bikes. You can't see mine, because it's tucked behind her side car. We started our loading process; of course, Rosie is always done before me, she just drops her bags into her side car and she is ready to go. Me, I need to make sure my bags are secured to the bike, I would hate to be going down the road and take a look in my review, and seeing my underway taking flight!!!!<

After checking out, we headed for Black Wolf Harley-Davison for a T-shirt and anything else we can find. After a good hour, we took our goodies and headed back to the bikes. I found the last good spot in my saddle bags for my goodies, then I hear Rosie say, :hey ET"; I look up, and she snapped a picture of me; too bad I wasn't smiling… We headed towards home around 10:45.

Since we are on our way home, I told Rosie, I would lead and let her relax in the back seat. We have good 360 miles to travel today. We got on I-81. This interstate has a LOT of trucks on it, and some of those drivers really don't like motorcycles, and will try and get as close as possible to you. They are what I call the ASSHOLE FACTOR of any interest riding!!!!

Once we started down the road, not only were we putting up with the trucks, there was a lot of construction going on as well, and it was really getting on my last nerve. I saw a sign for route 11 and pointed my bike towards the route. Route 11 follows I-81; I guess before the interstate, Route 11 was the primary road. Of course you have to go thru all the small towns, that doesn't brother me one bit, not on a bike. The road was pretty nice, hardly any traffic, then it merged back onto I-81.

We needed to get gas, so I was looking for a gas station that has a fast food restaurant attached to it, so we stopped where there was a Subway, kill two birds with one stone. I took a picture of our bikes having a nice break together. They have gotten attached to each other this trip, been spending a lot of time together ?!!!! Watch out this spring, we might have little side cars rolling around.

We are heading down the highway, when two bikers passed us. The first guy looked at me and waved, and I waved back. The second biker looked at me and waved and I waved back. As he passes, I see the back of his vest -- they were part of a 1% club named the Pagans. I thought "shit, you don't want mess with these guys." Most bikers when they pass don't look at you; they just wave and move on. These guys slowed down and made eye contact. Not sure if they do this with all bikers, or if they were giving Rosie and Iextra attention????

We were moving down the road and I needed to get gas again; sorry I only have a 3 gallon gas tank. Rosie has a 5 gallon, but with the side car, she uses a little bit more gas. After filling up, I wanted some ICE CREAM, so we sat on the side of the building having a relaxing break and talking about the two guys we just seen. She was enlightening me on the 1% club. She got up and took my picture (this time I'm aware) of me holding up my empty ice cream stick.

North bound we headed, now I'm really getting into the ride. Every so often I would look in my review checking on Rosie, and keep on riding. Then I hear some pipes coming along side of me, and I look and to my surprise its Rosie, patting the top of her helmet; that means need to stop. We pulled over to a rest area. Pulling into a parking spot I noticed it was the pet rest area, I couldn't resist…

On the way home we rode from gas tank to gas tank, only stopping for gas except for that one rest area stop. We made it home around 19:30 and we travelled a total of 360 miles. We parted ways, she headed towards her home, and I headed towards my home.

On Saturday, it was our club's monthly ride. It was a short ride, too. Rosie and I just laughed when everyone was saying their butt's hurt… Neither one of us ever had a butt problem on this trip; I would get tired before my butt would hurt. We both conditioned ourselves for this trip by riding longer without any stops so we wouldn't have this problem -- our goal was a 200 mile day; which we came pretty close to!!!!

The journey has come to an End!
